How to Play

Have the sponge collect all the gems and reach the portal somewhere in the level.

• Starting the Game
  • At the center of the welcome screen, select the play button to begin.
  • On the top right corner of the welcome screen are the following controls:
    • Select the speaker button to turn the game’s sound effects on or off.
    • Select the music button on the right to turn the game’s music on or off.
  • Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.

    • With your keyboard, press the up arrow key, the W key, or the space bar to jump.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Tap on the screen with your fingers to bounce.
  • Controls and indicators
    • Grid button: Quits the game and returns you to the level selection screen

• Game Play
  • Basic rules
    • The sponge automatically moves from side to side.
      • It changes direction whenever it hits a wall.
      • The sponge jumps when directed.
    • Pick up the gems.
      • The sponge will pick up the gems it touches.
    • Jump at the right time to climb up shafts, collect floating gems, and avoid hazards like spikes,
    • Use the green pads to jump farther.
    • Reach the portal somewhere in the level upon collecting all the gems.
      • The portal starts off gray & turns pink when all gems have been collected.
  • Levels and winning
    • Levels
      • The game has 20 levels, which are unlocked sequentially.
      • You can replay any of the levels you’ve previously beaten.
    • Winning vs. Losing
      • To win the level, you must collect all the gems and reach the portal.
        • You cannot enter the portal unless you’ve collected all the gems.
        • The game loads the next level automatically after you finish the previous one.
      • You will fail the level if the sponge hits any of the spikes, blades or other hazards.
      • On the game over screen are two options:
        • Select the reset button on the center left to try the level again.
        • Select the grid button to return to the level selection screen.
  • Tips
    • You must collect all gems to unlock the exit. You can view the gems as both something that must be collected *and* as a guide or hint as to the correct safe path through each level.
      • After level 6 you’ll encounter moving platforms and moving blades throughout the remainder of the game.
      • In most cases you need to collect all the gems in a single pass. Going back to collect a missed gem can make other moving parts (platforms, blades, etc.) be positioned incorrectly as you advance.
    • Jump timing
      • Some jumps on the walls require you to slide down a bit to not run into spikes on your next jump up.
      • Your jumps can be higher or shorter depending on which key you press and how long you hold it.
      • If you are landing on a platform you must quickly jump off of try to land slightly early so you have enough time to make the next jump.
      • The green platforms from level 17 onward automatically jump you when you touch them, so you don’t have to time jumping off of them.
• Target Audience
  • The game is suited for players who like challenging platformer games.
  • The game has no adult themed content.
